Thomas and the Shakes
Elgin, MN-based roots rock band Thomas and the Shakes are known for their authentic blend of Rock, Reggae, Soul and Blues.
Thomas and the Shakes is a rock band from Elgin, MN formed in 2013 by Thomas Wescott on guitar and vocals, and Garrett Kolb on his one-of-a-kind “shaker” drum kit; hence the name “Thomas and the Shakes”.
In 2014 at McNally Smith College of Music, the high school friends recorded and self-released their first EP, All My Favorite Things Are Free, and began cultivating their authentic blend of roots, reggae, folk, blues and whatever else they could mix to create their unique style of rock n’ roll.
Before long the rhythmic duo recruited Mark Walsh with his grab-bag of woodwinds, and Logan Kolb on bass guitar. Long-time friend and former band mate (Key Lime Special), Tyler Kispert, completes the line up with his guitar and vocal talent. Their bigger, more dynamic sound is heard on the 2017 release of their first full-length album, Mind Your Time. Their 2023 release, Carpet Booth Sessions, delivers the best yet of their uniquely crafted sound and energy. After nearly a decade of existence, the friends’ shared musical ambition continues to fuel the band’s expanding catalog of original music.
